The brassica Oleracea Flower Dissected
 This part of the plant is the male reproductive anatomy.  This part is called the stamen, it produces pollen and releases pollen. The Stem in the middle is called the Flower is called the Anthen.
 This picture shows the female reproductive part of a the plant. It's called the carpel. The carpel also has a stalk called a style. The style has a sticky part called  the stigma. This part collects the pollen by making it stick to itself. 
This is a close up picture of the pollen. The pollen is produced by the male reproductive part of the Brassica Oleracea. The pollen is transferred by bees to female reproductive flowers.

Blog Post #10: Anthers and stigmas and styles.

The Brassica Oleracea plants reproduce when they start producing pollen. Once this starts other plants that are "sexually mature" can use the pollen. When the pollen lands on the stigma of a flower the pollen creates a tube that runs down the the ovary of the plant. Then the fertilization occurs when the gametes combine and make a seed.
 This is a picture of the flower we dissected. The name of  the plant is Brassica Oleracea. We took its parts apart and dissected it and studied it under the microscope.
 This part of the plant is the male reproductive anatomy.  This part is called the stamen, it produces pollen and it also releases it. The stamen has a stalk that is called the filament and it has a part at the end of the stalk called the anther.
 This picture shows the female reproductive part of a the plant, its called the carpel. The carpel also has a stalk called a style and the style has a sticky part called  the stigma. This part collects the pollen by making it stick to itself. 
This is a close up picture of the pollen. It is also surrounded by some type of wax. The pollen is what the male part of a plant produces. This contains the gametes of the plant and it also produces seeds once inside the female part of a plant.

  1. This is the Anthers  and stigma of the flowers. The Anthers are where the haploid gametophtyes Are Produced. The stigma is the sticky portion at the top of the style where pollen grains frequently. The Anthers are supported by the stamen.

2. This Is Nector that the plants make so that pollinators or bees will be attracted to it. The Nector tastes like sugar water and that is why the bees go back to feed of of it.
3. This is the ovary of the flower. The Ovary of the flower is formed by the carpels. The ovary contains one or more ovules where female gametophytes are produced.
4. these are the insides of the ovaries. The Circles in the ovaries are the haploid cells. The Haploid cells only contains a single set of chromosomes and one single set of genes. 

5. This was what the flower looked like before it was taken apart.

Fertilization of flowering plant occurs in a process called pollination. flower's center contains long, thin filaments, topped by small oblong anthers. Together, the filaments and anthers are called stamen. Each anther houses four pollen sacs, which produce pollen. The pollen sacs contain microspore mother cells, or MMCs. Each pollen sac will produce eight sperm cells from the MMCs, or pollen grains. When the pollen grains in the sacs become ripe, the anthers burst open, releasing the sticky pollen onto the stamen. This bursting of the pollen sacs, called dehiscence, sometimes happens with enough force that the pollen propells forcefully out of the flower and onto the wind, which carries it to other flowers.The bright colors of the petals lure insects, where they alight and partake of the flower's nectar. Glands located at the flower's base produce nectar. To reach the nectar, insects must climb all the way into the flower itself. During the process, pollen grains located on the anthers either become stuck to the insect's feet (where they are transferred to another flower, in a process called cross-pollination) or moved from the stamen to the pistil of the same flower (self-pollination). This occurs in many instances, because of the pistil's location in the center of the flower surrounded by the stamen.

Blog Post 10 anthers and stigmas

The specific part here shown is the stamen which is the male reproductive organ, it contains sperm cells which at the top which is known as the anther.
This is the brassica oleracea flower. This flower contains reproductive system of both the male and female,  the ovaries and the stamen which contains sperm.
In this photo you can see that the ovary in the center has been cut in half( length wise) . The ovary produces four main structures, within the ovary are the ovary walls, the ovule locule, and the placenta.
